Let me know what you think of it.

LinkedIn linking

I seem to have created a storm yesterday on LinkedIn relative to my post: "Why I won’t link with you on LinkedIn (and how to get me to link)" https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/why-i-wont-link-you-linkedin-how-get-me-david-smith?trk=object-title
Lots of comments. Some negative, saying I should close the loop and link with everyone. I stand by my comments. But I appreciate what people have to say. Comments welcome here or on LinkedIn.

Mediasmith Celebrates 25th Anniversary

Today marks the 25th Anniversary of the founding of Mediasmith, Inc. Needless to say, Karen and I are proud of what we have accomplished. We've made a good living, helped a lot of companies and people grow and survived more ups and downs than we would have ever imagined.

In the week, month and year to come, I hope to raise a glass with each of you to celebrate our longevity. Frankly, I don't think any other "digital" agency has made it to 25 years yet (You may recall that our first client was StarSight Telecast, inventors of the Interactive Program Guide for television).

A hearty thanks to all who helped us along the way. This one's for you.

Where do third party ad servers go now?

Check out my new post on imediaconnection.com where I talk about the failure of the third party ad serving companies to maintain dollar volume share of agency media technology budgets.

Update on Social Efforts

OK, I just opened the new blogger interface and found out that it is now easy to see comments by others and post them. No, I did not post the post from India that appears to be a paid plug for Chevy, given the wording.
But I promise to do a better job of approving comments from others posting in the future.

I have taken a more distributed approach to social media. For most of these media I am mediadls (media + my initials).

I am actively posting on slideshare. (mediadls) the most recent is last week's ad:tech panel on Media Technology Stacks and who evaluates/integrates and works with media team to implement the proper stack (usually about 8-12 media technologies per campaign), working to get our arms around the creative tech stack. Maybe I should talk to Terry Kawaja at Luma about that.

I have a rapidly growing set of Pinterest boards also as mediadls.

My Facebook is Dave Smith/mediadls

My Twitter is mediadls

LinkedIn is David Smith (use advanced search to add Mediasmith as company if you have difficulty because of all of the David Smith's!)

In Google+ I am David Smith. In my about section, there is additional information about following other activities.

On a 1x basis, I am posting this info on my personal blog also (daveshere)

Talk to you soon.
Dave
